If you are someone who tends to light up while drinking, you could be further increasing your risk for erectile problems. For men under the age of 40, smoking is the biggest cause of erectile dysfunction and studies show that men who smoke more than 10 cigarettes daily are at an increased risk for erectile dysfunction.

The Impact of Heavy Smoking
Men who smoked more than 20 cigarettes daily had a 60% higher risk of erectile dysfunction compared to men who never smoked. 15% of past and present smokers had experienced erectile dysfunction.

Plaque Build-Up and Circulatory Problems
Smoking has often been associated with plaque build-up in the arteries, called atherosclerosis. This plaque obstructs blood flow through vessels, causing circulatory problems that lead to erectile dysfunction.

Alcohol and Erectile Dysfunction
Excessive drinking can also cause erectile dysfunction, compounding the effects of smoking. Alcohol can interfere with the nervous system, leading to difficulties in achieving or maintaining an erection.
